Our new family of USB 2.0 direct-connect temperature-
input modules extends the practical and space-saving UMDAS
family of analog-input modules to a wide variety of local and
remote temperature-sensing applications.
Our UMDAS TC connects directly to eight common
thermocouple types and speeds your data to the PC with the
convenient USB protocol. Depending on which thermocouples
you attach, it can cover a temperature range from –346°F to
+3308°F. An on-board microprocessor automatically linearizes
the data using the appropriate NIST linearization coefficients.
In addition to the eight thermocouple channels, the UMDAS TC
offers eight digital I/O channels that can be programmed for
any useful function, including alarms.
Our UMDAS TH provides all the functionality of the TC
model, and adds the ability to accept RTD, thermistor, and
semiconductor temperature inputs. RTD and thermistor
inputs are also linearized by the on-board microprocessor.
For locations such as remote facilities that are not
convenient to your host PC, we recommend the datalogger
versions of UMDAS TC and TH. In UMDAS TCLOG and UMDAS
THLOG, the microprocessor stores your temperature data on
the included 64MB CompactFlash card (upgradeable to 2GB max.;
see p. 124). You can retrieve your data by swapping out the
CompactFlash card, or you can download data to a portable PC.
Since there is not usually a PC linked to the dataloggers,
they come with firmware that allows you to use each of the
eight DIO channels to trigger local alarms when temperatures
fall above, below, or outside your defined set-points or
ranges. If there is a nearby PC, connect the USB cable and use
the dataloggers just like the UMDAS TC and TH modules.
